Do I Need a Physician Referral to Have a Sleep Study?

Yes, you will need a physician referral to have a sleep study at our facility.

How Do I Schedule an Appointment?

Your physician should schedule your appointment by calling the central scheduling department.

What Should I Bring With Me to My Sleep Study?
  • All medications that you will need at bedtime, during the night or in the morning
  • Your own toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush & others as needed such as shaver, shave cream)
  • Normal sleep attire (briefs are OK for men)
  • Hair dryer if needed
  • Special pillow if desired
  • Reading glasses if needed

What is Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is when the there is a reduction or a stop in airflow due to a collapse of your upper airway (throat, tonsils, tongue).

Is Sleep Apnea Dangerous?

It may cause you to stop breathing for ten seconds or more hundreds of times a night. These pauses put a strain on the breathing and heart muscles. This may lead to high blood pressure, severe daytime sleepiness, irregular heartbeat, and an enlarged heart. In severe cases sleep apnea is life threatening.

What Are Treatment Options?

Your treatment will depend upon your individual evaluation.

  • Weight Loss
  • Sleep Position Avoidance
  • Dental or Medical Sleep Appliances
  • Nasal Pressure Mask Therapy
  • Medication
  • Surgical Intervention
