Our classes are designed to meet a variety needs. We have classes for first time parents as well as
second or third time parents. Also, convenient times are offered to meet the schedule of any lifestyle.

 Alternatives For Pain During Childbirth
Women and their families will learn how to use herbs, aromatherapy, and acupressure to support them through labor.
 Baby Care
Topics will include baby massage, normal newborn characteristics, well baby/sick baby, feeding, bathing, diapering, infant safety, play safety and car seat safety.
 Breastfeeding Preparation
Topics include the production of breast milk, breast preparation and initiation of breast feeding along with potential problems and management. Also discussed will be your baby's role, breastfeeding during your hospital stay and breastfeeding as a working mother.
 Cesarean Delivery
This class is designed for women that have been told to expect a cesarean delivery. Relaxation techniques, anesthesia choices, recovery phase postpartum care, emotional changes and vaginal birth after a cesarean are discussed.
 Green Parenting
Looking for a healthier, safer home for when baby comes home? Have concernes about chemicals and thier affects on you and your family? This one time, 2 hour class offers inexpensive ways to begin "going green". Why not start a more eco-friendly lifestyle today?
 Infant CPR
Class instructed by a CPR certified registered nurse or respiratory therapist. Basic CPR and choking prevention is presented. No certification is given and class space is limited to ensure a low instructor/student ratio.
 Infant Massage
Learn the art of infant massage on your newborn. Class is instructed by an infant massage therapist. This class is generally taken after the baby's birth.
 Maternity Tour
Free tour of labor and delivery, mother/baby unit, and the nursery. The culture of the unit is explained and questions are addressed. Tours are included in all prenatal classes taken at Southview Hospital.
 Prenatal Preparation (Childbirth/Lamaze)
Series of classes that cover the physical and emotional changes of the birthing process, relaxation, breathing and pushing techniques, medication/anesthesia options, cesarean birth information, and postpartum adjustments to the new family. Classes are held at Huber Health Center and Southview Hospital.
 Prenatal Refresher (Childbirth/Lamaze)
This class is intended to provide a review of the labor and delivery process, birth options, breathing and relaxation techniques. A question and answer session is provided.
 Safe Sitter Class
Young adolescents (ages 11-13) are instructed in safe and nurturing child care techniques. Provides an opportunity for youth to acquire competencies in rescue skills, basic first aid and safe child care techniques.
 Sibling Class
Prepare your children for the arrival of their new sibling. This class includes a tour of the maternity center, making a gift for the new baby, self-esteem issues, holding and diapering the baby, and changes when living with a baby. Children ages 3-10 should attend.
 Teen Prenatal (Childbirth/Lamaze)
Same topics as the prenatal preparation class are covered. The class also offers information on informed decisions, community/hospital resources, coping skills, self-esteem, self development, and teen support groups. Informal discussion opportunities.
